Hirayama Elementary School is in the process of forming the English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC) for the current school year. The ELAC is required for schools with an enrollment of 21 or more English Learners (EL). ELAC will meet at least four (4) times during the school year. The ELAC members must have a student that is currently an English Learner at Hirayama Elementary.
The purpose of the ELAC is to advise the principal and staff on:
- The development of a detailed school plan for English Learners submitted to the Governing Board
- The development of the school’s needs assessment
- Administrators of the school’s language census
- Efforts to make parents aware of the importance of regular school attendance
- Monitoring and implementation of the Title III and Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) budgets
